Day #31-Final Photo!

Okay-here it is.
The final photo of the month.
Goal accomplished.
Whew.
It was fun.
Glad you came along for the ride.
To see my mundane life.
Now here's a photo that will knock your socks off....

Breaking news......
Relief Society president gets caught kissing Branch President.

Nope.
It's not a pre-April Fool's Day joke.
TL is officially the Branch President of the Spanish branch in our stake.
I'm the Relief Society president.

In the words of Alyssa,

"Awww, that's tender."

Photo Day #30

22 years ago today I gave birth to this adorable bright-eyed baby boy.
I can't believe he's WAY taller than me now and
I am about to lose my place as his best girl......

But that's okay.
His new best girl is AWESOME!
Happy Birthday m'hijo!

Day #27-It's All out War!

See this sign?
There are supposed to be beans growing.
No, the green in the back is onions.
No, the green on the right is a tomato plant.
Why are there no beans?

Because the !@#$%^ birds are eating them!
(insert the expletive of your choice)

Day #26-Two Photos

21 yr old son:

Mom!
There's nothing to eat in the fridg.

Mom:

Yes, there is, there's tons of stuff!
Son:

Nuh uh.
It's just full of leaves.

Mom, after removing all "leaves" says,

Oh, I guess you're right.

Photo Day #24

Early morning view of the front porch.
I've waited for years to get it looking like this.
Still a work in progress.
But it makes me happy when I drive up.

Photo Day #23-SIX MONTHS!

Six months ago today my baby boy left on his mission.
In some ways, it feels like longer.
In other ways, it feels like he just barely left.
He's made so much progress.
And it's been exciting to watch!
Can't wait to see what the next six months will bring.....

Photo Day #20-Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to My First born!
I think you turned out awesome.
Considering the fact that you were your parent's guinea pig.
Have a Happy Day!

P.S. I'm going to keep using this photo until you give me another one!
Cuz I think it's cute.

Photo Day #19-Another First

First time eating real people food.
It's butternut squash, prepared by Grandma.
Yummmmmmmm.
He liked it!
Downside:
Prepare for the nasty smelly poopy diapers.

Photo Day #18-Project of the Day

Writing the English titles in TL's Spanish hymnbook.
So now he doesn't have to guess what the song is until he hears the music.
Did that in mine years ago.
Because I had to practice leading for an hour each week
To prepare to do it in church.
Press on!

Photo Day #16-Making Lemonade

It's lemon season right now here in Sunny AZ.
This is lemon juice-I promise!
Being poured into ice cube trays.
To save for the day.
When it's not lemon season here in way too Sunny AZ.

Photo Day #15

Grocery Shopping Day.
A necessary evil.
It's not too bad, generally.
It's just that you have to put everything away when you get home.
And that's sometimes the toughest part.
Especially if you have screaming babies and hungry toddlers.
(been there-done that)

Photo Day #14-My Faithful Companion

My faithful companion at church every Sunday.
Everyone asks me where I'm going.
But I need to haul around a pile of stuff every Sunday.
Notebook, scriptures, manuals, hymnbook.
In both languages.
And this saves a broken back.
En que puedo servirle?
(how may I serve you?)

Photo Day #11

Creating Compost
Takes patience!
This is all the garden waste
That has been sitting in our composter for months
Not sure if it has been done correctly
But it smells good-like dirt-
And I'm hoping my soil and plants will love it.....

5 lbs of peas harvested last week.
Peas are labor intensive!

2-Shell peas
3-Blanch peas in boiling water for 1 minute
4-Plunge strainer in ice water for a couple of minutes
5-Place in ziplock bag
6-Put in freezer
7-EAT!  yummmm

Photo Day #9

10 stems at Trader Joe's-$1.29
Happiness by the kitchen sink-priceless!

Monday, March 8, 2010

Photo Day #8

A little retro cuteness.
Remember the word for 2010?
Things I learned in this project:
How to do a rolled hem on a serger.
How to do shirring.
Verry fun!

Photo Day #7

Hey mom! What's for dinner?
A nice, fat, juicy fist.
Thankyouverymuch.

Saturday, March 6, 2010

Photo Day #6

I'm used to cooking for an army.
Except that now the army either doesn't live here.
Doesn't show up to eat.
Or is on a crazy diet where he drinks shakes all day.

So what's a mom to do?
Ha-
All this food is going into a ziplock bag-in the freezer-
So when I don't FEEL like cooking for an army.
Everyone will think I did!

Photo Day #5

Six months old today!
All bundled up for a morning walk
with mommy & grandma.
Not sure that he's too keen on the idea.

Thursday, March 4, 2010

Photo Day #4

Sinkful of fresh lettuce straight from the garden.
There's nothing better than plain, crisp, cold greens with a squirt of ranch and a
dash of pepper.

Jan-Feb harvest- over 32 lbs of broccoli, lettuce, cauliflower, peas and carrots.
And that's what I weighed.
But this season is ending---
Time for the tomato, squash, cucumber season.

Photo Day #3

Mending missionary pants.
Because that's what moms do.
I figure if I do it for ours, someone in Alaska will do it for mine.

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

Photo Day #2

Things I would probably not do if I lived in ordinary circumstances.
Edit**:
No, I didn't break it open, however, I gave it some good whacks and started the process. One of the ladies who I think has serious anger issues smacked the heck out of it for us.

Photo a Day

I've got a goal this month-stolen from my girls who have done or who are doing a photo-a-day each day of the month. I don't have the photographic skilz and talent that Jen has-but I'm giving this a try! So here's the first photo of the day for the month of March......
She said YES!
(see the bling?)
