Blog Fodder

I have a file on my computer called Blog Fodder. If inspiration hits, then I jot down a few ideas for a blog post (lame-I know)

The Blog Fodder file is pretty empty right now. So what should I blog about?

Did I mention that filling out (i.e. nagging son to fill out) the Eagle applicant forms are a real pain?
Probably.

Did I tell you how excited I am that my grape vines are producing leaves?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, she is always talking about her garden.

Did I report that the new topic in Spanish is Los Deportes? (sports)

Oh-another repetitive topic.

Did I share how much I love this photo of Elder Steve so I scrapbooked it last night?

Oh yeah, yesterday...{yawn}

Did I tell you that I am spending the morning baking these? Can eat nary a bite-they are for a friend's daughter's wedding reception (is that punctuated correctly?)

Oh- you poor thing..............

Did I mention the lovely visit we had this morning at 12 AM with the local police department? (regarding son's recent assault at local high school-said son had another minor run in with assaultor--advised to call police-they show up at 12 AM-we are barely awake)

Aw, this is just thrown in for a little sensationalism

That's my life.......lots of boring repetition with a little sensationalism thrown in.

My Obsession

One of my passions in life is scrapbooking. I guess I don't talk about it a ton-but it consumes a chunk of my time (and money) I am SO not creative so I go to several classes every month and do kits. I don't want to waste time sitting and trying to figure out to put a page together. I just want to enjoy the creative process of making the page and displaying gorgeous photos of my family and telling great stories. So this represents pages completed waiting to be put in an album, page in progress and piles of kits to be scrapped....(got a lot of them!) The goal today is to empty off this table---but I have had so much other busy work to get done that it may not happen today. Hope springs eternal!

Since I am obsessively compulsively trying to be organized, this little book is a great guide to setting up a system of organizing photos and albums, etc. Stacy Julian offers a class on line called "Library of Memories" which I took last year and I am re-taking it again as an alumni. This is a little gem that you can buy and learn the process without having to take the class. It's worth it!

Here's my little library of memories-always a work in progress. Here's hoping I get to add to it today!

This Is Better Than.....

Christmas! (what did you think I was going to say?)

The arrival of Elder Steve's latest memory disk-straight from Nashville, TN. And now mostly for my viewing pleasure, (and my mom's)...here are a few randomly selected photos.....

"The field is white and ready to harvest...."

The standard mode of transportation for any self-respecting Mormon missionary. I don't think he has biffed it badly yet.
Carving the Thanksgiving turkey-the missionary way!

Little kids + missionaries=always see them....

I can't believe how much he resembles his older brother in this photo! (hey guys, can you see the ASU sleep pants???)
Men in white....

Okay, so I know I have taken up way too much memory space....I only have 182 more to share!

P.S. Spanish oral exam is over-I guess I did ok-I'm not happy with my performance but oh well....

Can I Take Back Yesterday

I'm wishin' now that I didn't have an extra day this year. Plan A for the day had to be changed rapidly within the first 30 minutes, then morphing to Plan B, C, and D by mid morning. By 3:00 PM I had decided to chill and see what Oprah was doing (I watch Oprah about 3 times a year). Before Oprah was half way through my dear Bubba D strolled in and announced that he had been assaulted after school. Gaaaa.. (mom-don't worry-he's ok) I spent the next 1 1/2 hours chatting back and forth with TL, Son and police officer. The story got curiouser and curiouser the more details I pulled out of Bubba D-seems he did something really dumb a couple of weeks ago that instigated the whole thing.....but that shouldn't have been cause for him to be assaulted and threatened......anywho...

So what did I do yesterday?

Cleaned out a junky cupboard that was bugging me.

Turned in a jar of change hanging around and netted $29.15 for my 72 hour kit backback.

Spent some time with Great-Grandma Emeline. I have been trying to transcribe her diary for a long time

I learned some interesting things about Emeline in the hour I spent with her:

She was about my age when she was writing her journal.
We had some of the same church callings.
Her son was valedictorian at the BYC in 1914 (my grandpa)
(have you ever noticed that the old timers call it the BYC or the BYU??)
She mentions seeing people I have read about in history-Pres. Joseph F. Smith, B.H. Roberts just to name a couple
I have her sewing machine (that she mentions in her journal)

Welp, I guess yesterday wasn't too big of a bust. So here's the deal. I'll print out the names of the people that commented at 5:00 PM today (so you still have time) and draw a name out of a hat to win the big prize....... Happy March!
