It's been 29 years.
I counted it up yesterday, with shock and awe.
You see, it was in the year of 1982,
that I sent my first little one off to public school.
And now I'm about to watch my baby graduate.
A week from today.
Time flies.
I look back on these past 29 years.
With some relief,
Some regret.
Wishing that I had participated more.
Worried less.
Enjoyed more.
But next week on that football field,
we are going to be recognized as the parents of the 7th and final child
to have graduated from Mesa High School.
And I'll probably be cheering.
And a little bit of tearing.....
Here she is receiving a surprise award.
For the Army Reserve student athlete/scholar.
Surprise!
But well deserved.

Congratulations! What a wonderful accomplishment....to all!
(Our daughter was born in Mesa;
We lived in Chandler) How awesome for your daughter to be recognized and honored by the Army Reserve. She must be a hard worker !
Happy graduation !!
Congratulations--and I am sorry as well. Next year my baby will graduate and I am not looking forward to it.
We have been to graduations at Mesa High and I think it is cool how they recognize people whose siblings or parents graduated from there as well. The school my older kids went to has only been open for 14 years and the school my youngest attends has only been open for 5--so there isn't quite the same kind of history.
Wow- congratulations! To you and to your graduate.
Next year my baby boy will graduate and that will be rough. But it will end 35 years of school for us (not including college hopefully). That's a long time to be a member of the PTA.
I remember the day my 8th and final child graduated from high school. It was 2 years ago and it felt weird. Now, I'm loving that I don't have to go to Parent Teacher Conferences, stay up til midnight to help with book reports, etc. etc.
Your daughter is darling!
