Refreshment For the Soul

Artist rendering of our new Gilbert AZ Temple

Spent some time this morning in the temple. Going to a session never fails to:

Bring peace in the midst of chaos.

Give answers when there are questions.

Turn a bad mood into a good one.

Bring clarity when there is confusion.

Teach me something new every time I go. (that is amazing!)

It's kinda like having a cold, tall glass of pure water, refreshing my parched soul...

(or maybe a really nice cold Dr. Pepper with the little ice chips-but I don't drink soda anymore so that isn't a good metaphor.....)

Five Things Making Me Really Happy Today

#1...I KNOW what I am having for dinner tonight-Grandma L's Pork chops & Red potatoes and FRESH green beans......

#2..Pink Baby Crocs-Chubby Baby Thighs....Miss B came to visit me for 5 minutes to show me her new Crocs.

#3...Spring Flowers that are Blooming and Greet Me When I Come Home. The weather here is mighty fine and I LOVE opening the back door in the early morning to let the air flow through my house.
#4...Shiny Clean Countertops and a Shiny Sink

AND....

#5....I GOT AN" A" ON MY FINAL!!!

Zippity-do-dah......Hip-hip-hooray

Now I can finally relax...Until next semester....

Happy Birthday Hero!

Twenty-six years ago at this time I was in labor....allllll day. But the happy result was this sweet little one! (doesn't she bear a resemblence to the Flower Baby?-just noticed)

Some interesting facts about her birth:

*She was born in a Lazy-Boy rocker recliner-in the labor room.

*She was my last birth without any type of anesthesia (including episiotomy-ouch!)

*We moved to California a month after she was born.

*We didn't trade her for a pig.

*She was my first thumb sucker-and even though thumb sucking ruins teeth-it makes for happy, contented babies.

*She has had a lot of trials in her life. She developed severe eczema and allergies 3 weeks after she was born and has had to endure stares, taunting, ridicule and many heartaches through her young life as she tried to cope.

*I had to breastfeed her for 18 months-she was allergic to EVERYTHING!

*She has a wonderful imagination-she could take a stack of crayons and play a game with them.

*The decibel level in our home doubles when she comes-she is full of fun!

Happy Birthday Amesy-I'm glad I'm your momma!

This Sign Was At My Doorstep This Morning

I'm trying not to be concerned about the content of the message. Bubba D assures me not to worry....

Now do you get an idea why I gave my blog the title I did???

Confession

I have a confession. I have waited and waited to confess this...but....
Since it is a part of my life....weekly.....well.....I decided to bare all.....(not in the literal sense)

I....I....I....well, you see today is Friday and I....I....

I have a cleaning lady....

Please don't hate me. I have waited for 30 years to have one. TL encouraged me for a long time to hire one but I refused-feeling like I could "do it all" and it wasn't good for my kids....etc...etc....So my cleaning lady, (we call her crazy Linda because she has more issues than any episode of The Office, Grey's anatomy, Desperate Housewives, etc. combined...) She comes every Friday....eventually....and when she leaves.....eventually...my house is sparkling clean. She is very good at what she does.

So why do I feel the need to clean my house...before the cleaning lady comes????

Well, my justification is that I want her to clean, not declutter.
Or maybe my pride gets in the way and I don't want her to think I am a slob.....Anyhoo....so here I sit, waiting for crazy Linda to arrive.....eventually.....mentally decluttering......

Happy Friday.

P.S. Remember this? Well, the culprit was crazy Linda. She confessed.

May Day

Ahh, the 1st of May....What does it bring to your mind? Visions of cute little girls in pastel dresses, with wreaths of flowers on their heads, dancing gaily around a Maypole??

Me?
Time-of-Use-Plan

May 1st is the delightful time of year when our electricity doubles in cost and time-of-use-plan means that electricity costs triple between the hours of 1 PM through 8 PM. So.....pool pumps must shut off at 12:59, all washing and drying must cease at 12:59, lights and extraneous appliances go OFF....all except the beloved AC which must then crank it up a notch to keep us cool during the sweltering summer afternoons....This ritual continues until Nov. 1st when we breathe a sigh of relief and let the washing and drying all day begin anew.......

On a happier note....

First Harvest of Green Beans..

Now I shall spend the rest of the day trying to come up with some meal which includes these delightful vegies and create horror in the hearts of my teenagers!
