On Giving Birth....

'Tis the season for birthdays at our house.

21 years ago today I gave birth....again....for the fifth time.

You know how when ladies get together, they like to compare birth stories? The first one says..."I labored for 50 hours." Then the next one says...."oh yea, I labored for 55.5 hours and then pushed for two hours!" And then the next one says...."oh yea, I labored for 56 hours, pushed for 2.5 hours and then finally gave birth in the back of the pickup truck!" And so on and so on.....

So for you to be suitably impressed..
I labored for quite awhile with this one, can't remember how much, but for at least 12-15 hours.
He was born at 4:00 AM.....ug....an AWFUL time....up all night...the dr. barely made it...
And here's the clincher.....His chest circumference was 1 inch bigger than his head circumference.

Ouch!

Suitably impressed?

That being said, Happy Birthday to #5, my Elder Steve, who I will be seeing in exactly 7 seven days and 12 hours....mas o menos......

Yippie! Not much longer now! I bet he is as equally excited! I will take my easy births over yours anyday!

ps...good luck on the corn. according to the people who own the land we are gardening on, they say corn only grows in huge plots of land. I guess the outside rows don't even produce corn, they just protect the inner rows. Hope you beat the odds!

WOW! happy birthday to him. I imagine how wierd it is to see your little guy all grown up into a man. You must be So proud of him!

and yes, I'm suitably impressed with the birth story. Even though My son's chest circumference was 1.5 inches bigger than his head. At least you tried.

You almost made it.

I am sure we will hate to give him back :)

You aren't excited at all to see him are you? :-) Cute pictures--I especially liked the missionary one.

And about birth stories. I have discovered there are two different kinds. The one is as you say where the labor went on forever, the second one is when there was no labor pains at all (or just a few) and no anesthesia of any kind. I of course had both types of births. :-)

Feliz Cumpleanos to your son!

The most exciting time of all---birth, well that is a very close 2nd, but FIRST most exciting is---seeing your little boy that you sent on a mission, but now is a man. I so excited for you and Terry!!!

hey Marilyn,

I figured with your kiddo coming home jobs might be hard for him to find too. tell him to hit the bilingual market (not sure it how it is there) but that is the KEY for call backs here! Have fun with your son, enjoy all the wonderful missionary stories!

How exciting for you to see your son!

My birth stories: My first child was huge! 10 pounds 6 ounces! I've never done labor, all 4 have been scheduled C-Sections.
Oh the scars I have.........;0)
