Last Saturday TL was dutifully doing his "honeydo" list, as every good husband does on a frequent basis. I had asked him to check the vent opening to my dryer. I was worried that it was leaking hot air because my laundry room/pantry seemed to be really warm while the dryer was running and of course since lots of my food storage is in that room, well, I was concerned about the extra heat floating around the room while the dryer was in use. He made an interesting discovery.....
UG! The dryer vent was clogged with about 5 pounds of lint! Not my usual "harvest." All this gunk was clogging up the vent and preventing the outflow of the warm air to the outside, where it should belong!
So here's my tip for the day-go have your significant other, main squeeze, man about the house help you clean out your dryer vent. I'd be interested to know what you find! I told him I bet our utility bill goes down $10 next month! We've decided this will be an annual event at our house-the cleaning out of the dryer vent......
See what a hard worker he is?
He has worn the bottoms off his shoes......Awwww. What a guy!

This is such a nasty job in our house! It should be required in all houses to place the dryer against an outside wall and directly vent outside! Ours vents down makes several corners and curves before it gets out...aaargh.
I'm thinking we should just have one day set aside to clean all vents or lint gathering appliances...hmmmm, oh honey! ;)
He IS a keeper! My first memory of him is his putting his arm around me and sharing his testimony and convincing me to marry Rich. No wonder I love him!
Oh man, glad you found the problem. Yes, those Larsen men are hard workers. Gotta love em'!
What a great guy! :) I know I love him!
A neighbor had to call the fire department because her dryer lint caught fire a few years ago. Be careful! You have a keeper in your main squeeze.
Dad, you rock.
hard worker indeed! We've had that problem before. Usually I'll notice that the clothes aren't getting dry. I'll have to turn the dryer back on over and over so dh gets to work. He's been able to help other people that hadn't thought to check the vent too. I bet your bill WILL go down.
And awwww what a hard workin' hub ya have there!
Wow, you too! We had the same problem over here with our last dryer. We had to buy a new one 3 years ago as that orignal set came used from a guy that was leaving for IRAQ. So, meanwhile inside the dryer, where the lint filter was(this one was have now is on top though) was clogged beyond clogged. We had to the whole thing apart to fish about 30lbs of lint out,
thank God we never had a fire!
you never would expect huh?
so, your son leaving just came back from his Mission right?
if so, he is gone again. Boo hoo for you but, that is great about the new grandbabies. adorable!
