whoa-howdy-that title may create some traffic! This is as in the parable in the Bible people......
So anyway, before I was immersed in funerals and such, I was thinking about my 72-hour emergency preparedness kit, bug-out bag, or whatever you may like to call it.
So I'm thinking, "self, it's probably time to check out these guys." It's been awhile.
Getting back to the parable..... I like to compare myself to the wise and unwise virgins in Matthew 25. Am I prepared? Do I have enough oil in my lamp? Am I ready at a moment's notice? There is LOTS of symbolism in this parable.
Well, I guess I would err on the side of the unwise this time......
Because I found a sad lack of items in my 72-hour emergency kit.
The food was old and nasty.
There's no extra clothing.
But I do have a fine first aid kit!
And I found these nifty things at Wally World and thought that they would be a great addition to the bag!
And I just whipped up a batch of jalapeno jelly from my garden produce.....
So in an emergency....
We'll have tasty jelly.
And very clean teeth.....

Good Job. Your jelly looks gorgeous.
LOL! Love it! jelly and clean teeth!
you should show us how you made your jalapeno jelly. Others will appreciate the fact that you have a minty toothbrush after eating the jelly!
Okay, that made me laugh. It also made me think that I need to check ours as well.
And about the title . . . I didn't even think of it any other way, but now that you mention it, I want to hear about what google searches end up on your blog. :-)
M., I don't know how you could possibly be confused by my blog post! ;) I've just never liked the idea of jalepeno jelly...perhaps I'll have to try it this year...just for the experience. I ditto GGMA!
mmmm Jellyyyyyy. ;)
I need to go through our 72 hr kits too. I know the MRE's are still good but I should switch out the water and granola bars and such. lol
This post made me chuckle thinking of the clothing sizes I have for my kids in their 72 hour backpacks and the 24 packs of gum stored close by.
ho hum....
(by the way, just caught up on many, many posts of yours and let me just say:
awesome!
wow!
hang in there
You're amazing!
You can do this-yes you can!
Beautiful grandchildren!
oh my goodness!
:)
What, pray tell, does jalapeno jelly taste like? It sounds a little... hm. Do you eat it with chips and salsa? Or is it sweet? Again... hm.
Can you brush with that jelly, or did you pack some toothpaste?
We found ours was seriously lacking in right-sized clothing.
That jelly looks fantastic! Can't wait for some of my garden to get in gear here in Utah, we're always behind. I know I would find clothes 2 sizes two small in our 72 pack, and I'm sure we'd probably WANT to starve to death than eat the food. We better get "wised" up quickly.
Kristin
The jelly does look great! We lived in GA for the last 3 years and the first hurricane season we were there my husband and I both, on the same day, went out and bought 10 gallons of bottled water! I used to joke that we could bathe the kids in a hurricane! But I never thought about tooth brushes. good thinking!
