I woke up feeling slightly nauseated and headache-y today.
It's probably because of the 5,129 pieces of chocolate covered toffee I ate yesterday.
Curse you Costco samplers....my exact words as I picked up the container of toffee,
"I know I'm going to regret this, but okay."
And the half bag of movie popcorn I munched while watching 17 Miracles for the 2nd time. (good movie BTW)
I'm a total loser these days.
Haven't done hardly anything since I got back from Utah.
Except read two books,
"Black Heels to Tractor Wheels" and
"The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society"
both
excellent excellent reads...
(not quite finished with the Potato Peel pie book yet)
I need to go weed my garden patch.
Which isn't producing much of anything except a large crop of purslane.
(Which I saw was being sold at a farmer's market a couple of weeks ago)
Ugh.
To me that is a noxious weed and
I haven't quite descended to eating it yet.
(google it-I'm not up to searching for a photo of what it looks like-betcha have some in your garden too!)
I need to go backwash the pool.
And fish out the chair that has been floating in it
Since the last wind/dust/piddly rain storm.
I've got to teach tomorrow
I've got the topic
but when I have to teach in another language,
I need to be a little more prepared than that.
TL has a new remodeling project in mind.
I'm kind of excited.
But not.
School starts next week.
Except my kid doesn't.
She's in college now.
My baby boy comes home from his mission in about 6.5 weeks
Haven't done a THING to prepare for that.
It's hard to be excited or motivated to do anything when it's 110 in the shade.
And with 35% humidity (which is high for the desert!)
No wonder I'm all headachy and nauseous.
I think I need another piece of toffee.

I think we are residing in the same worlds! Thanks for the book suggestions. I bought "The Kite Runner"...it just always sounded so interesting to me...ok, I only knew it took place in Afganistan and had a couple of boys in it...I listened to about 1/3 of it on my Kindle and became so depressed...I am not going to finish it. I also am teaching tomorrow...no topic and my mind is a blank slate! Let's not even discuss remodeling! ;) I mean I have a toilet sitting by my front door and it's going to be at least another week before it goes back in! Thanks for reminding me that I'm not in this alone!...chuckle
I loved the Guernsey book! Such a cute good read.
I hear ya!! I kept thinking that after my daughter's wedding I would be all ready to conquer my other projects. Instead I just felt miserably hot and wanted to stay in doors all day and do nothing but read books.
Now I am in Colorado where the weather is cooler and I can't do much more than wait for a baby to be born and wish that I had actually gotten a few of those projects at home done so I don't still have them waiting for me upon my return.
By the way, you look great in the picture on the beach! And I can't believe your son will be home that soon. It doesn't seem like it has been so long ago that he received his call!! How exciting for you to see him.
I didn't know that purslane was edible. I do have it growing in some places and always thought it looked pretty cool but figured it was a weed so I pulled it. I may have to try eating some.
Thumbs up to the Guernsey book.
And a big thumbs down to August. It's a month that I merely try to get through.
Good luck with your remodeling project. And 6.5 weeks to go is very exciting.
I didn't eat any toffee at your house on Sunday....saving it all for you. :)
LOL, Mom you are so normal. I love you.
