Does anyone else have it?
The Urge to Purge?
The Feeling to Fling?
It hits every year, about 6 hours after the Christmas frenzy. I just want to clean up, clear out and THROW out. All the hidden places in my home that have been storing Christmas gifts anywhere from six months to six days have been cleared out, the recipients of those gifts happily (hopefully) carting them off to fill up their own spaces.
We have plastic garbage bags stacked in piles next to the already filled garbage can. The recycle garbage can has already been collected. TL was sneaking around in the middle of the night, surreptiously stuffing our extra reyclables into other people's partially empty containers. Friday I will be ready for the "double dump." Double dumping means I watch for the garbage truck, and when our container is emptied, I scurry out with another six full garbage bags, pile them into the container and drag it across the street where I leave it to wait for the next garbage truck go round. Do you think the driver knows my deceit????
I want to take down all the decorations, clean out all the closets, and organize every drawer. The feeling only lasts about a week, when it disappears, only to reappear about six hours after next year's Christmas.
Therefore, I'm striking while the iron is hot......so to speak.
Go forth and PURGE!

I completely agree! The week after Christmas but before New Years are a time of purging and cleaning around here too! Good luck and have fun.
I'm right with you! I have a whole bunch of garbage bags full for tomorrow's trash pick-up and boxes waiting for freecyclers to pick up. Some of it is the bathroom demo! We can only have one garbage can at the curb and everything else has to have a $2.00 ticket on it so we're up to 16.00 bucks for tomorrow!
I must have inherited that from you!! I'm in purge mode myself. LOVE IT!
Yep, I need to do this. But with 9 kids all home, I'll have to wait until next week to clean when they go back to school.
We started the purging this morning since we just got back into town. I don't think my kids are feeling the same need!
I tried this earilier this week. But I kept getting interrupted by kids. Luckily, I have all the decorations downa and put away. At least that part is done.
I purged, I purged! The next time it hits will be in March just before we start to get warm. That one can be worse because it includes painting!
I feel the same way. Love ChristmaS, LOVE THE DECORATIONS, BUT LOVE TO GET IT ALL DOWN, PUT AWAY, and declutter everything. The little kids' rooms will have to wait till next week when they are GONE so I can freely give to DI but hubby is FINALLY cleaning out the garage which before he could do that he had to get certain things done INSIDE to put said garage stuff back IN where it goes...but he's slowly and steadily doing it. And I'm LOVING IT!
p.s. we snuck our neighbors recycle can over to our curb because the truck went to his side first..and filled it, and ran it back over as soon as it was emptied. Hope he didn't see us. We tried to ask but nobody would come to the door. LOL
I haven't really had the urge to clean out closets, BUT, I had to have all the mess cleaned up immediately after opening as it was driving me crazy. And everything had to be vacuumed. I had a friend who didn't clean up a single thing for two days. Not even wrapping paper!! I am sure I couldn't have lived with that.
BTW--my mother-in-law is not doing well at all. She went into hospice care on Monday.
I'm cleaning out the pantry and the spice cupboard this weekend! You know when there's a box of pancake mix from 2001 that it's time to purge.
