But life keeps getting in the way.
Recently I read a talk by Julie B. Beck, general president of the Relief Society (my heroine BTW).
She was talking about priorities (she also has a video)
She said it's important to do the
Essentials first.
Then the necessary.
Then the nice-to-dos.
So here's just one of my essentials.....
Trying to get that done first daily.
Here's a necessary.....
New season of swim team!!
(but I think that would be fun to do also because I love taking photos of the action!)
And of course, blogging is a nice-to-do......
So what is on your essential, necessary and nice-to-do list?

Great post! I have no response to that....brain fog! But such a good reminder! Thank you.
Marilyn, I don't know how to break this to you, but Julie B. Beck is my BFF. I claimed dibs on her awhile back. So step back woman, this could get ugly. just saying.
lol
oh, my essentials? having me time.
Ok Momza-I'll let her be your BFF but she can be my heroine????
thanks for pointing this out on lds.org! i love julie beck...i'm constantly reciting in my brain "a good woman knows...." :)
Essentials? Same as you. And I do it first thing in the morning too. My other essential is a potty break every five seconds, but we won't go into that.
Necessaries: Going to work. Ugh. 70 more working days, I think. I counted.
Nice-to-do: forgetting about dinner and having a bowl of ice cream instead. ha ha ha! Like that ever happens.
I too am part of the Julie Beck fan club. As for my essentials/necessary and like to do . . . I must be honest and say since being released from seminary my life has been turned upside down. I have been doing all my like to's and not the more important items. Also I have been out of town or had company for the past month. So I am hoping starting next week, I can start finding my groove and get my life back in order again. --So, thanks for the reminder!
So, I pretty much am reprimanded.
I was so proud of myself for blogging every day, walking every other day, and having family scripture almost every day,...and you and Julie Beck just stole it away in one tiny blog post. How dare you! :)
Must read scriptures every day. It is so hard when I am not a quiet person. Really. I love it, but I obviously need to love it more.
hey have you heard of the new BoM challenge? to read it before the end of the year? And have u heard of this website http://www.readthescriptures.com/
I just signed up and am trying to get all of my family members to do the same!
Perfect! I actually gave that lesson a few months ago and I thought how un-important blogging really is compared to all the other things. But I haven't completely given it up!
It's OK to hafe a nice-to-do as long as the needful and necessary aren't neglected.
Well, these days...I'm just spending all my time on my knees.
Praying, praying and praying some more.
Hope you have a wonderful Monday :)
I've read Julie'Becks talk over and over again - were you by chance at the RS leadership last spring? It's inspired me over and over again this year as I try to set priorities and keep all in perspective in my life. It's so hard to put aside the nice-to-do's and dedicate that time to essentials and necessaries.
Hi on my list - more prayer, more scriptures, more time with hubby, and the exercise has to be there to keep me sane. Next comes church callings - which currently take most of my time.
The house is messier, the yard is weedier, the garden is overgrown - oh well - they all have their season.
