While discussing Jessica's lack of immunity to chicken pox the other day, I was reflecting on the good ol' days with a house full of little ones and the plague of chicken pox that hit. We had it TWICE. Two waves of it. The first wave....
Four kids, in succesion, the oldest nine, the youngest about 6-8 weeks old. The older kids were really, really sick, poor things. I think the older you are, the sicker you get. The baby only got about 4 or 5 pox-hence her lack of immunity I guess.
No photos of the actual "event." You get a good idea of the ages. Then to top it all off, someone brought home head lice from school! (I won't name names) And the little blondie had HEAD LICE and CHICKEN POX at the same time. I was freaking out with the head lice soap, thinking I was going to poison my child with her open sores on her head and she had severe eczema to boot!
but we survived.
Next go round, three kids later, bam......one right after the other....chicken pox arrives
This time ages 1, 3 and 5. Oh joy. But they didn't get as sick and we had no head lice.
Remind me to tell you the story about when we had head lice and I was pregnant and terrified to use the "killer shampoo" for fear of damaging my unborn child. Wait.....was this post supposed to be about chicken pox or head lice? (now you know all my dirty little secrets)

Never had either. My kids got the vaccine, and I have a feeling it may come back to haunt me!
Aren't kids fun! All the wonderful things that get brought home. Umm...I wont say what...but we have had worse come home!
Abby had bumps the other day and I was a bit worried, but NADA! I can't believe they had it twice and with lice, something just doesn't seem right!
you had lice when you werre prego!! OH NO!! I am telling you, dry away!
Long gone are the days when kids were young and we would have chicken pox parties.... trying to get them to get it!
o my gosh I remember getting the chicken poks they sucked! im sure that was hard having more than one child with it!
the funniest thing about Head lice is my 1st two got that also at 4 and 1 years old. Yikes Andrew the one year old was completely covered. Then Meliesa got head lice on top of that and then Andrew. They rain through meliesa's hair like a train track. yuck.
then today we were talking about this shot that the school said Jesus needs. he never ever got head lice or chicken pox. I mean he is 11 now. Hope they stay away.
cute photos of your kiddos back then and poor things! It makes me wonder now if head lice and chicken pox go together. hum :)
I was the one to bring lice home. I remember Michelle having to comb through my hair with the "lice killing shampoo". She got the job because my mom couldn't see them. I don't think it spread at all.
I only remember me getting the chicken pox. Maybe my older siblings got it before I was around.
