Tender Mercy #6294

Lately I've been trying to focus on the little tender mercies that happen throughout my days and give thanks to Heavenly Father for his kind and watchful care. They are not big things, not "Today I'm grateful I didn't get hit by a bus," just the little things."

Like last week, I was sewing frantically and realized that I was missing a small piece of fabric necessary to finish a project. In dismay, I got ready to set it aside, when I noticed that in my craziness, I had accidently cut an extra piece of the same project! It was just what I needed to finish up without having to make an extra trip to the store-halfway across town-to pick up the fabric!

Two weeks ago, I had to teach the Relief Society lesson, not in my native language. Being the president, I have to do this every three months and it literally strikes terror into my heart for weeks beforehand. But when I taught the lesson, I could feel the words coming into me and flowing out of my mouth. It was an incredible experience!

Today I was running around, trying to get some Christmas shopping done. While sitting in the parking lot of a store, I was on the phone with a very unhelpful 411 operator, trying to find the phone number of another store I had never been to. I finally gave up, and went into store and completed my Christmas purchase. When I came out, I couldn't find my car keys! ----Guess where they were? In the car......with the door unlocked..... My car was still there, nothing was taken......all was well.

Today receiving an absolutely fabulous letter from our Elder Bubba D, addressed to his sister, which she read to me.....Wow.....it was a letter every parent hopes to get-sent to his sister-but amazing nontheless, full of testimony and brotherly advice.......

The challenge is to find those tiny tender mercies every day, that keep us going and let us know that God is ever mindful of us.....

What great stories!! I loved reading them. Here is one of mine. We were in Utah for Thanksgiving and my daughter showed me a sore on her arm that looked pretty scary. (She just had a mole removed that was melanoma so we are a bit paranoid.) I had her show it to my nephew who is a doctor and he suggested she try a particular medicine for a few days to see if that would help it. About an hour later I was cleaning out my purse--one I use while traveling, not normally, and found a tube of that same medicine--prescription!! My husband had it about three months ago and for some reason at some time I put the tube in my purse. I gave it to her and the sore cleared up. Tender Mercy!

Tender mercies remind us that Heavenly Father IS in the details:
Last night, I took Diana to get her hair cut...at 8 o'clock at night, after having insomnia the past two nights, I was yawning in the lobby area. So tired. We were halfway home, when Diana's phone rang, it was coming from MY phone...yup, I'd forgotten it at the salon! So they called and told me they'd wait for me to come back--even tho they were closing. I have to have my phone for births--3 of whom are due any second! So so grateful!

Great post! It reminded me of something my mom's RS is doing. They have a "Blessing Jar" in the RS room. On a stip of paper they write a blessing they have received that week. After the jar was full or whatever they had a "Blessings" dinner. I think they read some of the blessings there. I really like this idea because I have learned that people who count their blessings are generally much easier to be around!

I enjoyed reading your tender mercies! My being able to call AAA with no cell phone bars is one of my latest. So grateful for the Lord's cell phone plan!

Thank you so much for this beautiful post. I am determined to slow down and recognize the tender mercies of our Heavenly Father in my life. I know they are all around me, I want to see them, recognize them, and give my gratitude for them. HUGS!

The days when it's the hardest to find gratitude are the days that we need it the most.
