A New Challenge

In the process of seeking for answers to help improve TL's health after our recent 2nd bout of meningitis-we met and consulted with a naturopathic physician. Today we just got home from our most recent visit and we are in shock.....

He had a test for 100 different foods to see if food allergies might be creating problems with his immune system and lack of energy and not much weight loss success......There were 25 positives, the most significant being wheat, cow's milk, eggs and yeast. Sadly, tomato and chili peppers are also on the list which makes salsa a no-no.......even OATMEAL was on the list.

So now I am on a quest to figure out how to nourish him and avoid all these foods. I confessed to the dr. that just the other day I had made him oatmeal with cinnamon, walnuts and brown sugar, topped off with cow's milk......all on the allergy list! The dr. cracked up and said,"you're killing the poor man."

So I am going on this allergy diet too to see if some of my ailments might be allergy-related....

So wish us luck-and if anyone out there has any advice, experience or whatever.....in dealing with food allergies-I'm all for it. My next google search is going to be "allergy free cooking."

Celiac's is inherited. Sounds like it is in the family. Tomatoes???So sorry. Once the wheat is gone, you need the veggies. I think you might enjoy reading Gluten Free Girl.
Love to hear how it changes your lives.

I have a friend that has 2 daughters with celiacs disease and she has found luck in the organic foods.

Also, my BIL has the worst form of arthritis and has taken all kinds of medicine for years..causing all kinds of problems with his immune system. He eats organic now and is completely off all medications and feels AWESOME!

There are also many, many gluten free web sites...let me know...I can see which ones my friend looks at.

Holy Cow....you should definately talk to Patrice. She has been on the allergy diet for sometime now. It really is working for her. I know its tough for her at times, but the result of feeling better helps her to stay strong. I would definately call her.

Poor TL, being poisoned by Oatmeal, and by his own wife how very sad :-) Hope this helps his feel better and you too!

On another side note, why is it that WHEAT is such an evil to most of us???? HMMMMM

We deal a little with this. Owen can't have any dairy and he can't have Soy. We buy goats milk at Wally world. He seems not to mind, except when he notices us eating yogurt or other dairy products.

I know that is very small compared to what you are doing. Kaylene use to do a special diet for Ben. She may know a few places to find what you need.

Sometimes I wonder if it is more than just the food we consume, but the way the food is grown. Think about all the chemicals involved in growing food today, from grains to cow's milk. It's no wonder people are developing allergies. Our cows are fed and injected with all kinds of hormones and chemicals. It can't be good for them or us.
