The Last of the Firsts

Today is the first day of school.
Yesterday my mom called me and said, "you ALWAYS call me on the first day of school! Did you forget?"  She didn't realize that we have a wacky school schedule here in the desert.

For the past 25 of 28 years, I've parked my kids in this same spot and taken their photo on the first day of school.

Today is the last time I will do that.
Today is the first day of my baby's last year of public school.
Next year she'll be off to new adventures.
College.....careers.....marriage.....

Today has always been a day of relief and joy.
There's a little more "me" time in the day.

Today it's kinda bittersweet.
The last of the firsts.
Now I gotta go call my mom.

Your baby is a beautiful young lady! My youngest graduated last year! He's all signed up for school at the universtiy. Time flies on wings of lightning!

Have a great day!

My baby boy is a Junior this year. Bittersweet is right. He's so nice and fun to be around that I'm not really happy about school starting- which is unusual for me since I'm a fall and winter gal.

What a beautiful daughter you have!
I'll bet she's super excited about this year.
I can relate with the bittersweet feelings that change brings. Beginnings and endings are always hard.
Hope you have a great day!

Awe...she looked adorable for her first day!
I don't know what I'll be like when my baby is at that point. I still have 8 years left! I hope I remember her name! lol
Hope your daughter's year is wonderful!

she's so pretty!

I am in a different stage but my two girls both spoke in church a few weeks ago. It was Desi's last talk in Sacrament before going off to college, and Ash's first talk in primary. It's bittersweet! I'm having the hardest time losing my oldest than seeing my baby do things new. ACK! Motherhood ain't easy because nobody teaches you how to LET GO! lol
