May Day

Ahh, the 1st of May....What does it bring to your mind? Visions of cute little girls in pastel dresses, with wreaths of flowers on their heads, dancing gaily around a Maypole??

Me?
Time-of-Use-Plan

May 1st is the delightful time of year when our electricity doubles in cost and time-of-use-plan means that electricity costs triple between the hours of 1 PM through 8 PM. So.....pool pumps must shut off at 12:59, all washing and drying must cease at 12:59, lights and extraneous appliances go OFF....all except the beloved AC which must then crank it up a notch to keep us cool during the sweltering summer afternoons....This ritual continues until Nov. 1st when we breathe a sigh of relief and let the washing and drying all day begin anew.......

On a happier note....

First Harvest of Green Beans..

Now I shall spend the rest of the day trying to come up with some meal which includes these delightful vegies and create horror in the hearts of my teenagers!
